Stormwater Runoff

Stormwater runoff has long been recognized as a major source of nutrients and pollutants to Lake George.  While streams have been the focus in recent years, urban storm drains are well known as significant sources of bacterial contamination and sediment loading to the lake.  These stormsewers drain primarily impermeable surfaces, flowing rapidly to the lake and carrying contaminants deposited on city streets and sidewalks.
